PSG Demands Better Coordination With French Football Federation After Player Injuries

PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain has formally written to the French Football Federation (FFF) demanding stronger cooperation after two of its star players, Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué, suffered injuries while on international duty.

Key Injuries During World Cup Qualifier

Both players were hurt during France’s World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine on Friday.

  • Ousmane Dembélé, who has been in sensational form and is considered a top contender for the Ballon d’Or after guiding PSG to their first-ever Champions League title, has been ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

  • Désiré Doué will be sidelined for around four weeks due to a calf strain.

PSG Issues Strong Statement

In an official statement, PSG revealed it has sent a letter to the FFF, urging the introduction of a transparent and collaborative medical coordination protocol between clubs and the national team.

“The goal must be to make players’ health and medical support a top priority,” the club stressed.

PSG also highlighted that its medical staff had provided the French national team with detailed information regarding the players’ workloads and injury risks, but claimed that coach Didier Deschamps and his staff ignored the recommendations.

“The club deplores the fact that these medical recommendations were not taken into account, along with the total lack of consultation with our medical teams,” PSG wrote. “These preventable incidents must lead to swift corrective measures.”

What’s Next?

With both stars sidelined, PSG faces a critical stretch in domestic and European competitions without two of its most influential players. The club hopes its call for improved coordination will protect players from unnecessary risks during future international duties.

Takeaway: PSG’s standoff with the French federation highlights the growing tension between clubs and national teams over player welfare, workload management, and long-term fitness.
