Christian Pulisic Dismisses Talk of Rift With U.S. Coach Mauricio Pochettino
Christian Pulisic has played down reports of tension between himself and U.S. men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino, insisting their relationship is strong and professional.
The AC Milan star had opted out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup earlier this year to recover after two demanding club seasons. While he offered to play in pre-tournament friendlies, Pochettino preferred to keep the squad consistent, leading to some debate and criticism from former U.S. internationals.
Pulisic Responds to Speculation
Speaking to reporters after the USA’s 2-0 win over Japan in a recent friendly, Pulisic stressed that any perceived issues had been exaggerated:
“We have good conversations, honestly. Probably what the media sees is not exactly what we experience. Things are good. We spoke, we had a normal camp, and everything is fine between us and the team. There’s probably not as much drama as people think.”
Pulisic started both friendlies this month, registering an assist in the victory over Japan, highlighting his continued importance to the squad.
