Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Huge Financial Aid for Flood Victims

CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Relief Package for Flood-Hit Families in Punjab

Sargodha – September 2025

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a comprehensive relief package for families affected by the recent devastating floods across the province. Speaking at the inauguration of electric buses in Sargodha, she announced that financial aid would be provided to help rebuild damaged homes and restore livelihoods.

Financial Assistance for Affected Families

According to CM Maryam Nawaz, families whose houses were completely destroyed in the floods will receive Rs. 1 million each for reconstruction. Those with partially damaged homes will be given Rs. 500,000 to cover repair costs.

To further support rural communities, compensation has also been announced for livestock losses. Owners of animals lost in the floods will receive between Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 500,000, with cheque distribution expected within five days.

Scale of the Flood Damage

The floods impacted 27 cities and over 5,000 villages, leaving widespread destruction in their wake. CM Nawaz noted that while the devastation was massive, swift government response helped reduce the potential loss of life.

Ongoing Relief and Rescue Operations

So far, relief teams have successfully evacuated 2.5 million people to safer areas. Alongside this, food, clean water, and essential supplies have been distributed, while livestock were also moved to protect the livelihoods of farming families.

The 2025 floods, triggered by relentless monsoon rains, flash floods, and glacial lake outbursts, have so far claimed over 800 lives and affected 1.2 million people. Economic losses are estimated at nearly $50 billion, making this one of the worst natural disasters in Pakistan’s recent history.

Largest Rescue Operation in Pakistan’s History

Earlier, CM Nawaz praised the combined efforts of administrative departments, rescue teams, and the Pakistan Army, calling their coordinated response the “largest rescue operation in Pakistan’s history.” She noted that during peak flooding in August, more than 600,000 people and 450,000 livestock were safely evacuated.
