LAHORE: In a move to improve passenger convenience and ensure transparency, the Punjab Transport Department has launched a dedicated helpline (1071) for citizens to report cases of overcharging and misconduct in public transport across the province.
The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Vision for Transport 2030,” which aims to modernize Punjab’s transport network and make it safer, smarter, and more efficient for commuters.
Direct Complaint System for Passengers
Through the new helpline, travelers can instantly report issues such as:
-
Overcharging of fares
-
Rude or unprofessional driver behavior
-
Poor service quality or vehicle conditions
Officials said that every complaint received through the helpline will be addressed promptly, ensuring greater accountability and responsiveness from public transport operators.
A Step Toward Modern Mobility
According to the Punjab Transport Department, the helpline is part of a broader plan to reform public transport services under the Transport 2030 Vision, which focuses on expanding mobility options and improving passenger safety.
“This initiative will not only empower citizens but also ensure that transport service providers follow fair practices,” a department spokesperson stated.
The helpline’s introduction marks another step toward building a citizen-focused and technology-driven transport system across Punjab.
