Punjab Launches Hassle-Free Online System for Setting Up Petrol Pumps
The Punjab government has introduced a major reform aimed at simplifying the process of setting up petrol pumps in the province. The new system significantly reduces bureaucratic hurdles, allowing entrepreneurs and investors to start their businesses faster and more efficiently.
A Single NOC — Now Just a Click Away
Under the revamped procedure, applicants are now required to obtain just one centralized No Objection Certificate (NOC) instead of separate approvals from multiple departments like:
-
TEPA
-
LDA
-
Civil Defense
-
Traffic Police
-
Assistant Commissioner
-
Rescue 1122
-
Local Government
-
Environment Department
This single NOC can be easily applied for online through the LDA NOC portal, enabling applicants to complete the process from the comfort of their homes.
Faster Approvals — Decision Within 15 Days
Once the application is submitted, the Deputy Commissioner must issue a decision within 15 days—whether it’s an approval or a rejection. In case of a rejection, a valid reason must be provided. This is a significant improvement over the previous 6–12 month delay many applicants faced.
Fewer Documents, Same Standards
The documentation process has also been simplified. Applicants now need only six essential documents, down from the previous requirement of sixteen. However, the basic land requirement remains unchanged at:
-
Minimum 2 kanals of land
-
80-foot frontage
Reform Led by Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz
These changes were spearheaded by the Industries Department and received formal approval during a cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The goal is to boost investment, streamline business processes, and promote economic activity across the province.
