Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to Get a New Name Under PCB’s Commercial Plan
October 25, 2025
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started the process of renaming Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium as part of its strategy to expand commercial partnerships and increase revenue from cricket infrastructure across the country.
According to media reports, the PCB has invited bids from corporate sponsors interested in acquiring the naming rights for the iconic venue. This move marks a major step toward giving the historic stadium a brand-affiliated identity, following similar trends in global sports markets.

The initiative aligns with the PCB’s broader goal of enhancing commercial revenue through partnerships with private organizations. A similar arrangement was previously made for Karachi’s National Stadium, which was renamed the National Bank Cricket Arena in 2022 after the PCB sold its naming rights to the National Bank of Pakistan.

Sources suggest that the PCB also plans to introduce naming rights opportunities for other major cricket venues, including Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, famous for hosting numerous international matches and Pakistan Super League (PSL) games, has long been one of the country’s most vibrant cricketing venues. The stadium continues to play a key role in Pakistan’s international cricket calendar, especially while Karachi’s facility undergoes renovation.
While the timeline for the final decision has not yet been announced, negotiations are expected to begin soon with potential corporate partners.
For cricket fans, however, the spirit and legacy of Rawalpindi Stadium — home to many memorable Pakistan victories — will remain unchanged, even as it prepares to enter a new commercial era.
