Rawalpindi Food Authority Seals Warehouse Storing Hazardous Cooking Oil

Rawalpindi Food Authority Seals Warehouse Storing Hazardous Cooking Oil
Β  Oct 24, 2025

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi has sealed a warehouse after discovering a large quantity of hazardous and used cooking oil during an early morning operation, officials confirmed on Friday.

According to a PFA spokesperson, the raid was conducted following detailed intelligence-based surveillance. During the operation, officials recovered nearly 500 litres of reused cooking oil, which was immediately destroyed on the spot to prevent it from re-entering the food supply chain.

The illegal storage facility was located near Safdarabad Nala Lai, where the oil was reportedly being repacked in boxes of a well-known cooking oil brand. Authorities believe the product was being supplied to local snack manufacturers and frying units, posing a serious public health risk.

A case has been registered at the local police station, and one suspect has been taken into custody. Officials noted that no legal documentation or production record was found at the site.

The PFA reiterated its commitment to ensuring food safety and quality standards, warning that strict action will continue against those involved in the sale or reuse of harmful cooking oil.
