Rawalpindi Gets First International-Standard Swimming Pool with Modern Facilities

Rawalpindi has marked a new chapter in its sports development journey with the inauguration of its first-ever world-class swimming pool, equipped with cutting-edge technology and international-standard features.

The facility was officially inaugurated by Punjab Minister for Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar, who also opened a newly constructed players’ hostel in the city. Both projects reflect the Punjab government’s growing commitment to modernizing sports infrastructure and promoting youth talent across the province.
State-of-the-Art Facilities for Athletes
According to details, the players’ hostel, built at a cost of Rs181 million, features 80 beds and is equipped with advanced training and residential amenities for athletes. The swimming pool, constructed at a cost of Rs217 million, includes a modern water filtration system, heating mechanism, and electronic timing technology — ensuring compliance with international competition standards.
Speaking at the ceremony, Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced plans to develop a multipurpose sports complex in Rawalpindi, while also extending similar projects to other major districts across Punjab.
Boosting Sports Under CM Maryam Nawaz’s Vision
The minister highlighted that the initiative aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of empowering athletes and improving sports infrastructure at the grassroots level.
“This project is a reflection of the Punjab government’s dedication to nurturing talent and creating opportunities for young athletes to compete globally,” Khokhar said.

He also noted that the renovation of the Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex is another major step in reviving and modernizing Punjab’s sports facilities, making the province a hub for national and international sporting events.
