Pakistan Shaheens Secure Third Win in Top End T20 Series with Four-Wicket Victory Over Melbourne Renegades
Pakistan Shaheens achieved their third win in the Top End T20 series with a convincing four-wicket victory over the Melbourne Renegades at TIO Stadium in Darwin on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 108 runs, the Shaheens faced an early setback with the dismissal of opening batter Sahibzada Farhan for just 4 runs. Skipper Mohammad Haris contributed 17 runs from 13 balls, hitting three fours before his departure.
Omair Bin Yousuf played a crucial role, scoring 25 off 21 balls, including 2 fours and a six, and forming a 29-run partnership with Usman Khan. Yousuf was out in the ninth over to Tyler Pearson.
Usman Khan anchored the innings with a steady 38 from 36 balls, featuring a six and a four. He, along with Muhammad Irfan Khan (12 from 16 balls), was dismissed in the 17th over. However, Jahandad Khan sealed the win with a six on the last ball of the following over, guiding Shaheens to a final score of 113-6.
On the bowling front, Harry Dixon and Kane Richardson each took two wickets, while Pearson and Callum Stow claimed one wicket apiece.
Pakistan Shaheens, who chose to field first, managed to restrict the Melbourne Renegades to 107 all out in 18.3 overs. Mubasir Khan made the initial breakthrough, dismissing Blake Macdonald for 18. Further breakthroughs came from Dixon and Marcus Harris, who were out in the sixth and seventh overs, respectively. The Renegades struggled through the middle overs, eventually collapsing to 67-7 before being all out.
Jai Lemire was the top scorer for the Renegades with 23 runs. For the Shaheens, Jahandad Khan was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs in 3.3 overs. Arif Yaqoob, Mohammad Imran Jnr, and Faisal Akram each took two wickets.
The Pakistan Shaheens will next face Bangladesh ‘A’ in their upcoming fixture tomorrow.
