The Canadian Women’s Softball Team kicked off their World Games 2025 campaign with an exciting 11-9 victory over Puerto Rico, thanks to a strong offensive showing and clutch pitching in the late innings.
Canada’s bats came alive, scoring 11 runs on 15 hits, with Morgan Rackel delivering four innings of relief to secure the win. The game saw dramatic moments, including a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning where Rackel kept Puerto Rico from extending their lead.
The turning point came in the sixth inning when Grace Messmer hit a two-run double over right field, giving Canada a three-run lead that they held for the rest of the game.
