With team rosters confirmed during Tuesday’s technical meeting, head coaches from around the world expressed confidence and shared their goals ahead of the five-day tournament.
Venezuela Ready to Defend Their World Title
Recently crowned World Champions Venezuela will compete for the first time as title holders. Despite their success, head coach Delio Lopez is focused on keeping his team grounded.
“This game is unpredictable. We’re here to compete with the best, and our goal is to finish in the top four,” Lopez said, emphasizing a day-by-day approach.
Argentina Aiming for the Podium
Argentina’s coach Jose Guerrinieri echoed similar goals, stating his team is aiming for a medal.
“The World Cup is behind us. Now is the time to improve and enjoy the competition,” he said, looking to bounce back from a challenging run at the WBSC World Cup Finals.
Japan Seeks First Global Title
Japan, the new world No.1, is focused on converting their ranking into a championship win. Coach Shinji Eguchi noted improvements in the team’s offense but highlighted the need to strengthen pitching.
“Our goal is to win gold. We’re working on ball variation to match global pitching speeds,” he shared.
Czechia Set for Historic Run
Czechia, competing with a wild card entry, is looking to make history.
“We’ve never reached the top six. Our goal is to break that barrier,” said coach Jaroslav Korkac, who is optimistic about the team’s preparation.
Canada Eyes Redemption
Canada is also aiming to return to medal contention.
“We want to be in that gold medal game,” said delegation leader Mike Branchaud, who added that new young talent on the roster brings fresh energy.
USA Focused on Gold
After back-to-back bronze finishes, USA is determined to reach the final.
“We’re here to compete for gold. The team is ready,” said head coach Ron Hackett, expressing confidence in the squad’s preparation.
Singapore Embracing the Challenge
Although Singapore is the lowest-ranked team, coach Ruoh Jie Koh sees this as a valuable learning opportunity.
“We’re here to play the strongest teams and improve. Every game is a step forward for us,” he said.
Australia Developing Future Stars
Australia, champions in 2022, is fielding a younger squad focused on long-term development.
“This is an opportunity for our young players to gain experience. We still want to win, but our focus is also on preparing for the future,” said coach Mike Titheradge.
With excitement building and teams fully prepared, the Men’s Softball competition at The World Games 2025 promises world-class action and inspiring stories from athletes representing every corner of the globe.
