CTD Punjab Arrests Close Associate of Former Al-Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden
LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has announced the arrest of Amin ul-Haq, a close associate of former Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden, in a significant operation.
Operation Details: The CTD spokesperson stated that Amin ul-Haq, a prominent Al-Qaeda terrorist listed on the United Nations’ global terrorist list, was apprehended following an intelligence-based operation (IBO). Legal proceedings against him have been initiated, and an investigation is currently underway.
CTD’s Commitment: CTD officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe Punjab and emphasized their determination to eradicate terrorism. The department remains dedicated to eliminating terrorism from its roots.
Previous Operations: On May 12, the CTD killed Faizan Butt, a suspected sharpshooter and alleged member of the banned militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in an encounter in Karol Ghatti. Faizan Butt was involved in three attacks on police officers in Lahore within a week. He had shot and killed a sub-inspector and a constable and had also injured another police constable.
Suspect’s Modus Operandi: Faizan Butt had a knack for identifying unarmed police officers in uniform. He would occasionally roam the city, find a target, follow them, and shoot when the moment was right.
