Trump Sets Sunday Night Deadline for Hamas to Accept Gaza Peace Plan
October 3, 2025
WASHINGTON / GAZA: US President Donald Trump has given Hamas until Sunday night to accept his proposed 20-point peace plan for Gaza, warning that failure to comply would bring “all hell” against the group.
According to Trump, the deadline is 2200 GMT on Sunday (3am PKT Monday / 1am Gaza time). He issued the ultimatum after a Hamas official told AFP the group still needed time to review the proposal aimed at ending nearly two years of war in the territory.
“If this last chance agreement is not reached, all hell, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
Key Points of the Peace Plan
-
Ceasefire across Gaza
-
Release of hostages within 72 hours
-
Disarmament of Hamas
-
Gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza
-
Establishment of a post-war transitional authority, headed by Trump himself
The proposal has been backed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and welcomed by many world powers, including Arab and Muslim states. Hamas, however, has expressed concerns over clauses related to disarmament and is reportedly seeking international guarantees of full Israeli withdrawal.
Situation on the Ground
Gaza’s civil defence agency reported heavy airstrikes and artillery shelling on Gaza City on Friday, killing at least 11 people, including eight in Gaza City. Israel has not issued an immediate comment.
The United Nations once again warned that there is “no safe place in Gaza,” with UNICEF describing southern areas designated by Israel as “places of death” due to overcrowding and lack of food, water, and medical care.
Amnesty International condemned what it called a “catastrophic wave of mass displacement,” as hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were pushed into southern Gaza.
Division Within Hamas
Sources close to the group told AFP that Hamas leadership is divided. Some favor unconditional approval of Trump’s plan to secure an immediate ceasefire, while others seek conditional approval with amendments to key points, particularly regarding disarmament and security guarantees.
The ongoing conflict, triggered by Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, has killed over 66,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health ministry figures cited by the UN. Israel reports 1,219 deaths from the initial attack, mostly civilians.
With the war approaching its two-year mark, global pressure is mounting on both sides to reach a settlement. The coming hours may prove decisive as Hamas weighs Trump’s ultimatum.
