Crash Circumstances

The exact cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed. However, eyewitness footage, published by Azerbaijani media, shows the plane spinning horizontally and breaking apart mid-air.

Georgia’s interior ministry confirmed the crash occurred in the Sighnaghi area, approximately five kilometres from the Azerbaijan border. Georgian air traffic control said the plane disappeared from radar shortly after entering Georgian airspace without transmitting a distress signal, and emergency services alerted authorities to the crash.

International Condolences

Several countries have expressed sympathy. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar extended condolences to Turkiye, saying:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the departed. Pakistan stands in full solidarity with our Turkish brothers and sisters in this hour of grief.”

This tragic incident underscores the risks faced by military personnel during routine operations, and Turkiye has launched investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
