Shocking Discovery: Actress Humaira Asghar Found Dead Months After Passing in Karachi Apartment
KARACHI – The tragic and mysterious death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar has left both fans and authorities searching for answers. Her body was discovered on July 8 inside a Defence Phase VI flat, where she had reportedly lived alone for over seven years. Shockingly, initial findings suggest she may have passed away eight to ten months ago.
The 32-year-old’s remains were found during a routine eviction order enforcement, when a court-appointed bailiff arrived due to unpaid rent on the property. The flat owner had filed a legal case after months of non-payment.
Post-Mortem Findings
A post-mortem examination led by Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed indicated that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, estimating death occurred between 8–10 months ago.
According to Dr. Syed, no immediate signs of trauma or foul play were evident from the decomposed body, but further forensic analysis is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
How Was the Death Unnoticed for So Long?
Speaking on Geo News’ morning show “Geo Pakistan”, Karachi South DIG Syed Asad Raza addressed public concern over how the death went undetected for such a long period.
“The foul smell from a decomposing body can emerge within five to 40 days,” said DIG Raza.
“In this case, the apartment next door was vacant, and a bathroom window was open, possibly allowing the odor to dissipate outdoors.”
DIG Raza added that Humaira’s frequent travel between Karachi and Lahore may have led neighbors and building staff to assume she was away. In fact, only one friend attempted to contact her after October 7 of last year.
Additionally, the building’s watchman reportedly tried to call her three days after her suspected death, but received no response.
Police Investigation Underway
To thoroughly investigate the case, the Sindh Police have established a six-member inquiry committee headed by SP Clifton Imran Jagirani. Other members include:
