Worker assaulted after taking day off in Lahore

The family of a worker named Aftab has reported that he took a day off from his position at a private steel mill to take up a one-day job elsewhere.

This decision allegedly upset the mill owner, identified as Umar. When Aftab later returned to assist former colleagues in finding employment, he was reportedly subjected to physical assault, allegedly on the instructions of the employer.

Initial police reports suggested that Aftab had chosen to withdraw his complaint, possibly after receiving further payment.

It was also reported that he submitted a written request asking authorities not to proceed with legal action.

However, in response to growing public concern and a thorough review of the incident, SP Cantonment Captain (R) Qazi Ali Raza confirmed that a formal case has now been registered against the mill owner and three unidentified individuals.
