Punjab Wildlife Department Rescues Six Lions Amid Floods
The Punjab Wildlife Department successfully rescued six lions trapped by rising floodwaters at a farmhouse near the Ravi River. The operation was conducted under the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and supervised by Wildlife Secretary Mudassir Riaz Malik.
Despite torrential rains and challenging conditions, wildlife teams used four boats, assisted by a team of veterinarians, to safely evacuate the stranded lions. The animals have been relocated to a secure facility where they are receiving medical care and 24/7 monitoring.
Officials confirmed the rescue was completed without any risk to human life, even as floods continue to impact thousands of villages and farmland across Punjab.
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb praised the wildlife rangers for their bravery, highlighting the Punjab government’s commitment to protecting endangered species.
