60th Jockey Club Open Polo Tournament: Exciting Matches in Pilar, Argentina
On Friday, September 12, the Argentine Association of Polo (AAP) headquarters in Pilar, Buenos Aires, hosted the second matchday of the 60th Jockey Club Open, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the lead-up to Argentina’s Triple Crown. The championship features six teams, with handicaps up to 33 goals.
The opening match brought a thrilling rematch of last year’s final between La Hache and Scone. Led by Hilario Ulloa, La Hache started strong, dominating early play and keeping control of the scoreboard. Although Scone fought back with a determined effort, La Hache held on for a 13-10 victory, securing a spot in the semifinals. Scone, meanwhile, will now need a win against La Aguada in their next game to keep their chances alive.
In the second contest, Kazak faced Pilot. The first three chukkas were evenly matched, but Kazak took charge in the later stages. With Polito Pieres scoring three goals and Juan Martín Nero delivering a standout performance, Kazak sealed an 11-7 win. As a result, the outcome of League A will be decided in the final round of matches.
The 60th Jockey Club Open will continue on Sunday, September 14, with two exciting clashes scheduled in Pilar:
-
1:30 PM – La Irenita vs. Kazak
-
3:00 PM – La Aguada vs. Scone
Fans can look forward to more high-quality polo action as teams battle for a place in the next stage of the tournament.
