Toba Tek Singh Floods: Over 80 Villages Submerged, Thousands Rescued
Toba Tek Singh, Pakistan – Heavy water discharge of 200,000 cusecs in the Ravi River at Kamalia caused widespread flooding on Monday, submerging more than 80 villages and eroding rural link roads.
Authorities and rescue teams evacuated over 60,000 people, providing first aid to 890 individuals, while 61,999 animals were moved to safer locations. Many residents took refuge on rooftops before being rescued.
Road & Traffic Disruptions
The road connecting Chichawatni, Faisalabad, and M-3 motorway interchange was submerged near Kalaira Adda, Kamalia, forcing suspension of all traffic in the area.
Leadership Oversight
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited Jhang to oversee relief operations. She inspected a field hospital near a relief camp, reviewing treatment facilities and medicine availability for flood-affected residents.
At the Chenab River’s Jhang spur, DC Ali Akbar Bhinder briefed officials on the flood situation, including losses to houses and crops. Relief camps have been established at 500-meter intervals, providing meals and essential services to all affected families.
Authorities continue round-the-clock monitoring to support affected communities and prevent further damage.
