Oct 3, 2025
ABU DHABI: The UAE capital is preparing to roll out a state-of-the-art tram system that will connect Zayed International Airport with some of its most iconic attractions, including Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Yas Mall, and the Yas Marina Circuit. Future expansions may even see the line extended to a planned Disneyland project.
Abu Dhabi Light Rail Project
The initiative, unveiled by the Abu Dhabi Transport Company (ADT) at Global Rail 2025, is part of a wider mobility masterplan featuring the Urban Loop and Abu Dhabi Tram Line 4, designed to serve Yas Island and nearby residential areas such as Al Raha.
Multi-Phase Development
The tram network will be constructed in three phases, with a central depot near Etihad Airways headquarters, modern high-speed stations, and extensive parking facilities. Later phases will expand service to Khalifa City and more communities on Yas Island.

Reimagining Mobility
ADT CEO Saeed Salem Al Suwaidi said the project aims to “reimagine urban mobility” by integrating smart infrastructure, sustainable transport, and data-driven solutions for a connected city.
As part of the initiative, ADT also signed an MoU with Abu Dhabi Airports to develop integrated public transport across the emirate, ensuring better passenger experience, community wellbeing, and economic growth.
A Sustainable Future
Once operational, the tram will serve as a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi’s transport network, providing a green, efficient, and convenient link between the airport, leisure destinations, shopping hubs, and residential districts.
