Aitchison College Hosts Junior National Tennis Championship 2025 with Enthusiastic Participation

LAHORE: The Aitchison College Junior National Tennis Championship 2025 served up an exciting start on Tuesday at the historic Aitchison College campus on Mall Road, Lahore. Organized under the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), the event drew a strong turnout of young tennis players from across Punjab and Pakistan, competing in multiple age categories for top honors.

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was graced by Dr. S.M. Turab Hussain, Principal Aitchison College, who attended as the chief guest. In his remarks, Dr. Hussain extended best wishes to all participants, urging them to play with discipline and dedication while striving to become the future ambassadors of Pakistani tennis.

He also appreciated Mr. Rashid Malik, Senior Executive Vice President of PLTA, for his continuous efforts to promote tennis at the grassroots level across the country.

Other distinguished guests included Mr. Waqar Nisar (Finance Secretary, PLTA), Mr. Sohail Malik, Mr. Sajjad Rasool (Tournament Referee), and Mr. Faheem Siddiqui (Tournament Coordinator), along with numerous coaches, parents, and tennis enthusiasts who gathered to support the young athletes.


Competitive Matches Mark Opening Day

The championship kicked off with energetic matches across several divisions, including Boys U-18, U-14, and U-12 categories.

In the Boys U-18 first-round fixtures, top seeds Abubakar Talha and Asad Zaman dominated their opponents with commanding 6-0, 6-0 wins. Zohaib Afzal Malik, Amir Mazari, and Hamza Ali Rizwan also advanced with solid performances. Meanwhile, Abdullah Pirzada, Abdullah Sajjad, and Aryaan Hassan impressed with composed victories.

In the Boys U-14 category, several young talents showcased their skills. M. Shayan Afridi, Muhammad Daniyal, and Zayd Mansoor all cruised through their opening matches with clean 4-0, 4-0 results. Zohaib Amjad staged a thrilling comeback to defeat M. Faizan, while M. Musa Ali narrowly edged out Salal Bugti in a gripping 4-2, 2-4, 5-4 battle.

The Boys U-12 round also featured promising performances. Muhammad Muaz of Fatima Group impressed by winning both his U-14 and U-12 matches convincingly. Other standout players included Raahim Faisal, Mustafa Zia, Mustafa Uzair Rana, and Nameer Ahsan, who all progressed to the next rounds with straight-set wins.
