Carlos Alcaraz Stays Positive After Wimbledon Loss, Eyes Strong Comeback in Cincinnati
Carlos Alcaraz is putting his recent Wimbledon final defeat behind him as he prepares for a fresh start at the ATP-WTA Cincinnati Masters. Despite falling short in the Grand Slam final against Jannik Sinner, the world number two remains upbeat and focused on his goals for the remainder of the season.
“Even though I lost, I left the court proud after Wimbledon,” said Alcaraz, who was the 2023 finalist in Cincinnati. “The goals may shift in the second half of the season, but my mindset is the same — to keep improving and enjoy every moment.”
🏆 Aiming for the Top Again
Alcaraz has made it clear that one of his key ambitions is to reclaim the world number one ranking by the end of the year.
“I want to do the right things, stay consistent, and hopefully regain the top spot,” he added.
🌴 A Much-Needed Break in Spain
Following his intense run at Wimbledon, Alcaraz took some time off to recharge. He skipped the Toronto Masters, choosing instead to spend three weeks in Spain.
“I took a full week to relax — no training, just rest,” he shared. “Then I slowly got back to practice, enjoyed time with friends and family, and just appreciated being home during summer. It was a great reset.”
Alcaraz expressed how valuable that break was, and said he now feels recharged and ready to take on the competition in Cincinnati.
🎾 A Budding Rivalry with Jannik Sinner
The young Spaniard also addressed his growing on-court rivalry with Jannik Sinner, who he defeated in the French Open final before losing to him at Wimbledon.
“I’m happy to be building such a strong rivalry,” Alcaraz said. “People are already talking about our impact on tennis history, and that’s very special. But we’re still young and have long careers ahead — let’s see how far we can go.”
🔜 What’s Next?
As he sets his sights on the Cincinnati Masters, Alcaraz remains focused on the bigger picture. He hopes to continue his impressive form, push himself further, and finish the year strong.
Fans around the world are eager to watch his return to the court, and with his positive attitude and powerful game, Alcaraz is certainly one to watch in the second half of the 2025 tennis season.
