At least 7 injured as fire at Karachi’s Export Processing Zone causes partial building collapse

Factory Fire in Karachi’s Export Processing Zone Leaves Seven Injured

At least seven individuals sustained injuries on Thursday following a fire at a garment factory located in the Karachi Export Processing Zone (KEPZ), near Landhi. According to officials, a portion of the building collapsed during the incident, prompting immediate rescue operations.

Fire outbreaks remain a frequent concern in Karachi, largely due to insufficient fire safety protocols in many commercial and industrial buildings.

Rescue 1122 confirmed in a statement:

“The injured were transported to a nearby hospital via Edhi ambulance. The fire, which erupted at a garment unit near KEPZ, is still ongoing, and intense efforts are underway to bring it under control.”

In response to the emergency, at least four ambulances, six fire brigade vehicles, and a snorkel were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters and rescue teams are actively working to manage the situation and prevent further damage.
