BMW Championship 2025: Key Betting Markets and Picks
The BMW Championship returns to Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, hosting 49 of the top 50 players from the FedExCup Playoffs. This event is crucial as players vie to secure their spot in next week’s TOUR Championship in Atlanta.
Below are some popular prop markets and selections to consider when placing your bets this week in Baltimore. For more expert picks, fantasy insights, and event previews, be sure to check out the DraftKings Network.
Top 5 Picks
Scottie Scheffler (-225, including ties) showed no signs of rust last week in Memphis. Despite narrowly missing the playoff, the FedExCup points leader is looking to claim his first BMW Championship and just his second FedExCup Playoffs title. With 12 consecutive top-10 finishes, Scheffler remains the favorite—though backing him requires a solid investment.
For a potential high-reward play, Xander Schauffele (+300) aims to erase a quiet regular season with a strong playoff showing. Currently 43rd in the standings, Schauffele has never finished worse than T7 in eight appearances at East Lake Golf Club, making his motivation to reach the TOUR Championship undeniable.
Other players to watch include Cameron Young (+450), who finished fifth last week at TPC Southwind and is riding strong momentum, and local favorite Denny McCarthy (+1000), who will enjoy a home-course advantage in Maryland.
Top 10 Contenders
Rory McIlroy (-175) is the only other player besides Scheffler with odds in the negative range for a top-10 finish. With 15 BMW Championship starts, seven top-10 finishes, and a 2012 victory, McIlroy is a consistent contender. He finished just four shots shy of the playoff in 2021 at Caves Valley.
Patrick Cantlay (+150), last year’s champion with a 27-under-par record, faces a tougher course setup this year with lengthened holes and fewer par 5s. He’s coming off a top-10 finish last week and looks ready to contend again.
Tommy Fleetwood (+130) and Kurt Kitayama (+300) also deserve attention. Kitayama, fresh off a win at the 3M Open and a strong showing last week, has the power and form to make a top-30 run and advance in the FedExCup standings.
Longshot Michael Kim (+600) is another intriguing pick, especially given his past success on long courses like Torrey Pines.
First-Round Leader Market
In 2021, Rory McIlroy (+1400) and Sam Burns (+3000) shared the first-round lead, and both return this year. Other notable players with strong opening rounds recently include Cameron Young (+3000), Justin Thomas (+2500), Hideki Matsuyama (+3500), and J.J. Spaun (+3000).
Denny McCarthy (+5000) will need a hot start if he hopes to surprise this week. A player with a sharp putter early on often gains an edge in this market.
Hole-in-One Odds
The 2021 BMW Championship saw one hole-in-one by Viktor Hovland at the par-3 third hole. This year, the course retains the same four par-3 holes, but they are all longer—ranging from 197 to 245 yards. While tee placements may vary, these longer distances make aces less likely.
With a smaller field of 49 players following Sepp Straka’s withdrawal, and no hole-in-ones recorded at last week’s event, betting “No” (-275) on a hole-in-one this week appears the safer choice.
