Bobby Portis Confident Giannis Antetokounmpo Stays with Milwaukee Bucks

Rumors have swirled about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks after consecutive early playoff exits, but teammate Bobby Portis is pushing back, insisting the roster is fully capable of contending for a championship.

The speculation around Giannis grew after the Bucks faced back-to-back first-round playoff losses to the Indiana Pacers. In 2024, Giannis missed the entire series due to injury, and although he returned in 2025, Milwaukee still couldn’t advance past the opening round.

Amid the chatter, rumors of a potential Giannis trade and concerns over the team’s championship window have intensified. However, Portis, a veteran forward with the Bucks since 2020, dismissed the speculation in an interview with ESPN Milwaukee.

“Yeah, I talk to Giannis all the time. That’s my teammate. Giannis bleeds green. That’s all I can say,” Portis stated, showing full confidence in his star teammate.

Portis emphasized that the Bucks’ roster is strong, noting that injuries—not talent—have been the main hurdle for the team. “I mean, what’s wrong with our team? Why can’t we do it this year? The only thing wrong with us is people being hurt,” he added, comparing the current squad to Milwaukee’s 2021 championship team.

With Portis backing him and the core roster intact, the Bucks remain a formidable contender in the upcoming NBA season, with fans hopeful that Giannis will stay in Milwaukee to pursue another title run.
