Brazil Defeats Argentina to Win Fifth FIBA AmeriCup Title
MANAGUA (Nicaragua), September 1, 2025 β Brazil reclaimed continental glory by defeating Argentina 55-47 in a defensive showdown to lift their fifth FIBA AmeriCup crown at the Alexis ArgΓΌello Sports Complex. It was Brazilβs first title since 2009 and their 12th overall podium finish.
A Game Won on Defense
Argentina opened strong, but Brazil relied on tough defense and timely baskets to turn the game around. The decisive moment came late in the fourth quarter when captain Vitor Benite hit a three-pointer to extend the lead to 10 points with less than two minutes left, shutting down Argentinaβs comeback hopes.
Earlier, Brazilβs bench playersβAlexey Borges, Reynan Santos, and Beniteβpowered a 10-2 run that stretched the lead to double digits. That cushion proved vital as Argentina attempted a late rally.

The final was one of the lowest-scoring games in AmeriCup history. Brazilβs 55 points were the fewest ever scored by a champion, while the combined 102 points marked the lowest total in the tournamentβs history.

With the win, Brazil improved its AmeriCup record against Argentina to 13-9. This was their second title won against their long-time rivals, having also beaten them in the 2005 final.
