Although Britain won the doubles match, the result was not enough to advance. Shapovalov celebrated the win with ice cream on court, highlighting his focus and composure despite a lively home crowd of around 15,000.

In Bologna, Italy led Group A with a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands. Matteo Berrettini defeated Botic van de Zandschulp 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, and Flavio Cobolli overcame Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3. Spain, resting world number three Carlos Alcaraz, secured a 2-1 win over Australia in Valencia. In Zhuhai, Chile concluded their campaign with a 2-1 win over Slovakia, although both teams were already out of contention.
