China’s Letin Auto to Launch EV Manufacturing in Punjab
Punjab is set to attract fresh foreign investment as China’s Letin Auto Group plans to establish a small electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in the province.
A 15-member delegation led by General Manager Xu Zhen met with Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain in Lahore to discuss the project and possible incentives. The minister assured full government support, highlighting benefits for investors in Special Economic Zones, including a 10-year income tax holiday and duty-free machinery imports.
Hussain emphasized that the investment would boost Punjab’s economy, create jobs, and advance the province’s vision for clean mobility.
Letin Auto, also known as Levdeo Automobile Group, completed its reorganization in 2024 after bankruptcy proceedings in China and is now exploring new markets like Pakistan, which offers favorable policies and an export base with low U.S. tariffs.
The company joins other automakers, including BYD, Changan, and MG, expanding their EV operations in Pakistan, reflecting growing interest in the sector amid rising fuel costs and supportive government initiatives.
