Cleric Muhammad Ali Mirza Arrested Following Complaints by Religious Groups
Jhelum, August 26, 2025 – Prominent cleric Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has been arrested and shifted to jail under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) 1960, police confirmed on Tuesday.
Authorities said the arrest follows complaints lodged against Mirza by various religious parties. Section 3 of the MPO allows the government to detain individuals to prevent actions that may threaten public safety or disturb public order.
Mirza, a widely followed cleric, has over 3.1 million YouTube subscribers and more than 2,400 videos. He has previously survived an assassination attempt in 2021, when he was stabbed during one of his weekly lectures.
Police confirmed that Mirza is now in custody as the investigation continues.
