Transfer Deadline Dates: Key Closing Times for This Summer’s Major Leagues
As the summer transfer window reaches its final days, football clubs across Europe are racing to complete deals before the market officially closes. Traditionally ending on August 31, this year’s deadlines have been extended into early September due to scheduling conflicts.
Since August 31 falls on a Sunday—with league matches taking place that day—the major European leagues have pushed their transfer deadlines to Monday, September 1.
Here’s when the biggest leagues will shut their windows:
-
Premier League: Monday, September 1 at 08:00 CEST
-
Serie A: Monday, September 1 at 08:00 CEST
-
Bundesliga: Monday, September 1 at 08:00 CEST
-
Ligue 1: Monday, September 1 at 08:00 CEST
-
La Liga: Monday, September 1 at 11:59 CEST
But the transfer activity won’t stop there. Several other leagues are keeping their doors open later, allowing clubs and players more time to negotiate:
-
Portugal: Tuesday, September 2
-
Brazil: Wednesday, September 3
-
Belgium: Saturday, September 6
-
Croatia: Saturday, September 6
-
Saudi Arabia: Thursday, September 11
-
Greece: Friday, September 12
-
Turkey: Friday, September 12
-
Qatar: Tuesday, September 16
With the clock ticking down, expect a hectic final stretch of transfers—and maybe a few surprises after Europe’s top leagues have closed their windows.
