Cristiano Ronaldo Reportedly Set to Extend Al-Nassr Stay Until 2027
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to signing a two-year contract extension with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, just days before his current deal was set to expire.
The 40-year-old Portuguese superstar had previously hinted at the end of his journey with Al-Nassr through a cryptic social media post stating that “the chapter is over” following the club’s final game of the season. However, fresh reports suggest a change of heart, with Ronaldo now expected to remain with the Riyadh-based side until at least 2027.
Ronaldo’s Saudi Journey Continues
Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has been a standout performer. He has scored 99 goals in 111 appearances, including 35 goals in 41 matches last season alone. His outstanding form earned him the Saudi Pro League’s Golden Boot for a second consecutive year.
Despite speculation about a potential move—fueled in part by FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s mention of Ronaldo possibly joining a Club World Cup side—Ronaldo is said to have declined those offers, expressing a desire to continue his career in Saudi Arabia.
Off the Field: Investment Interests
Beyond the pitch, Ronaldo is also reportedly exploring sports investment opportunities within the region, signaling a deeper commitment to Saudi Arabia beyond football.
This move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy of bringing global sports icons into the country to boost its sports profile and tourism.
Club Changes and Future Plans
Earlier this week, Al-Nassr announced the departure of manager Stefano Pioli following a season in which the team finished third in the league, 13 points behind title-winners Al-Ittihad.
As the club prepares for the upcoming season, the focus now turns to Ronaldo’s anticipated contract renewal, which could serve as a pivotal moment in shaping Al-Nassr’s ambitions both on and off the field.
A Legacy in the Making
If finalised, this extension would allow Ronaldo to continue playing at a competitive level while also solidifying his legacy in the rapidly growing Saudi football landscape.
Stay tuned for official confirmation from the club in the coming days.
