LDA Clarifies: Ferozepur Road Bike Lane Remains Operational
Recent media reports claiming that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has discontinued the bike lane on Ferozepur Road have caused confusion among commuters. Many outlets and social media posts circulated these claims, but most lacked official confirmation, making the news misleading.
To set the record straight, LDA’s Public Relations Officer, Osama Mehmood, issued a statement rejecting the rumors. He confirmed that the bike lane project has not been canceled and described the viral reports as false and clickbait.
According to Mehmood, the only change involved the removal of concrete dividers on a specific section of the road, initiated by Traffic Police Lahore to reduce accident risks during peak hours. This adjustment did not affect the overall bike lane project.
Current Status of the Bike Lane:
A recent ground survey from Chungi to Qaddafi Flyover confirmed the following:
-
Chungi to Kalma Flyover: Concrete dividers removed temporarily for safety.
-
Kalma Flyover to Qaddafi Flyover: Dividers remain intact, and the bike lane is fully operational.
Red lines on maps indicate sections where dividers were removed, while blue lines show areas where the bike lane continues as planned.
Despite the rumors, the Ferozepur Road bike lane is still part of Lahore’s urban mobility and traffic management plan. LDA emphasized that the project remains active and will continue serving cyclists across the city safely.
