Manchester Originals Women Dominate Welsh Fire in The Hundred 2025
Manchester Originals Women produced a brilliant all-round performance to register a commanding seven-wicket victory over Welsh Fire in The Hundred 2025, chasing down the target with 19 balls to spare and boosting their chances of qualifying for the next stage.
Match Report
Electing to bowl first, Manchester Originals got off to the perfect start as Mahika Gaur ripped through the top order. The England youngster removed star batters Sophia Dunkley and Tammy Beaumont early, finishing with superb figures of 2 for 10.
The pressure kept mounting on Welsh Fire as Sophie Ecclestone sent back Hayley Matthews and Georgia Elwiss while conceding just 11 runs in her spell. But it was Lauren Filer who stole the show, taking 3 wickets for just 8 runs, including two in consecutive balls, to leave the batting side reeling.
Kathryn Bryce also joined the party, claiming 2 for 10 in the final set as Welsh Fire could only manage 73/9 in their 100 balls — one of the lowest totals in the tournament so far.
Chasing a modest target, the Originals kept their cool despite early wickets of overseas stars Beth Mooney and Melie Kerr. Kathryn Bryce anchored the innings with a well-compiled 45 off 41 balls, guiding her team to victory in the 82nd ball.
