FedEx St. Jude Championship: Tommy Fleetwood Leads as Weather Halts Play

The first leg of the FedExCup Playoffs has reached its halfway point — and the drama is already building. The second round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship was suspended due to inclement weather and will resume Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. CT. When play continues, all eyes will be on leader Tommy Fleetwood.

Fleetwood has been in sensational form, firing rounds of 63 and 64 to reach 13-under par after 36 holes, holding a four-shot lead. He ended his opening round with four straight birdies, then added another streak of three birdies early in Round 2 before making four in a row again from holes 13-16. His only blemish was a bogey at the tough 18th. With his stellar play, Fleetwood is currently the +115 betting favorite to secure his first PGA TOUR victory.

Current Odds to Win (FanDuel)

  • +115: Tommy Fleetwood

  • +450: Scottie Scheffler

  • +900: Collin Morikawa

  • +1400: Akshay Bhatia

  • +1800: Justin Rose, Maverick McNealy

  • +2200: Kurt Kitayama

  • +3500: Ludvig Ã…berg, Andrew Novak

Fleetwood’s success has been powered by exceptional driving accuracy — hitting 24 of 28 fairways — and leading the field in Strokes Gained: Approach and Greens in Regulation. Historically, this profile sets up well for weekend success. However, Fleetwood still faces pressure to close out a win, having finished runner-up six times without lifting a trophy.

Scheffler in Pursuit
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler sits six shots back at 7-under after rounds of 67 and 66. His second round included eight birdies but also four bogeys, all from missed fairways. If Scheffler can find the short grass over the weekend, his chances of winning a fifth PGA TOUR title this season improve significantly.

Veteran Threats
Justin Rose is tied for second at 9-under with two holes remaining in his second round. With four top-10 finishes this season, Rose is gaining over 3.7 strokes tee-to-green this week and could close the gap quickly when play resumes.

Kitayama’s Playoff Push
Kurt Kitayama, who started the week 52nd in the FedExCup standings, surged with a 7-under 63 in Round 2. He is now projected to jump into the top 30 and keep his playoff hopes alive.

Spieth on the Bubble
Jordan Spieth, currently tied for 39th at 1-under, sits exactly on the bubble at 50th place for advancing to the BMW Championship. With two rounds left, every putt will count as he fights to secure his spot in next week’s field and the 2026 Signature Events.

The weekend promises high drama — with Fleetwood chasing his first TOUR win, Scheffler looming, and playoff dreams hanging in the balance.
