Muzaffargarh Launches E-Challan System to Enhance Road Safety
In a major move to modernize traffic management, the Safe City Authority has officially launched the electronic challan (e-challan) system in Muzaffargarh, aiming to improve road safety and ensure better enforcement of traffic rules.
To mark the beginning of the initiative, an awareness rally was organized, starting from the Safe City office and ending at the Muzaffargarh Press Club. The event saw participation from key stakeholders, including officials from the District Traffic Police, Punjab Highway Patrol, Rescue 1122, and representatives from educational, religious, and social communities.
How the E-Challan System Works
The new system uses high-tech surveillance cameras strategically installed across the city to monitor traffic violations in real time. When a violation is detected, an electronic challan is automatically generated and issued to the offender.
In addition to enforcing traffic laws, these cameras also assist law enforcement agencies in tracking criminal activity, contributing to overall public safety.
Promoting Road Safety Awareness
Citizens were urged to strictly follow traffic rules — such as wearing seatbelts, using helmets, and avoiding signal violations — to avoid fines. Officials highlighted that community cooperation is vital in minimizing road accidents and creating a safer driving environment for all.
This step is part of a broader initiative to digitize public services and create smart, secure cities throughout Punjab.
