Stefano Vukov Wins Appeal, Cleared to Return as Elena Rybakina’s Coach

Croatian tennis coach Stefano Vukov has successfully overturned his suspension and will return to coaching on the WTA Tour, according to The Athletic.

Vukov, who has worked closely with 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, was suspended for one year earlier this season following a WTA investigation into an alleged breach of its conduct policy. The ban, handed down in February 2025, prevented him from accessing tournament venues, locker rooms, and Rybakina’s player box.

However, the 38-year-old appealed the decision — and after seven months, an independent tribunal ruled in his favor, allowing him to rejoin Rybakina’s team immediately.

In a statement, the WTA said:

“The WTA is fully committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all participants. Any sanctions issued following a breach of safeguarding rules are subject to appeal before an independent tribunal. While case details remain confidential, we can confirm that Mr. Vukov is eligible to receive credentials at WTA events.”

Throughout the investigation and suspension, Rybakina publicly defended her long-time coach, insisting she had “never been mistreated” by him. In his absence, she brought in former Italian player Davide Sanguinetti to assist her training.

Now, with Vukov cleared, Rybakina will work with both coaches as she prepares for the remainder of the 2025 season.
