Sialkot – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday visited flood-affected areas in the Sialkot sector, including Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur, to review ongoing relief operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
During the visit, the army chief assured the Sikh community that all religious sites damaged by floods — including the Darbar Sahib Kartarpur Gurdwara — would be fully restored.

Interaction With Communities
The Sikh community in Kartarpur warmly welcomed the COAS and expressed gratitude for the services provided by the Pakistan Army and civil administration during the disaster.
The army chief reaffirmed that protecting minorities and their religious sites is the responsibility of the state, and Pakistan would “leave no stone unturned” in fulfilling this duty.
Pakistan’s Flood Crisis
Since late June, torrential monsoon rains have caused devastating floods across Pakistan, claiming more than 800 lives. India’s release of excess dam water has further intensified flooding in Punjab, with the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers swelling to dangerous levels. According to the NDMA, over 210,000 people have been evacuated from vulnerable villages.
Troops’ Commitment Appreciated
While addressing troops in the field, Field Marshal Munir commended their high morale, operational readiness, and dedication in serving the nation during such challenging times.
Upon his arrival, the COAS was received by Corps Commander Gujranwala.
