FIFA Vows to Support Rebuilding Football in Gaza

  October 16, 2025

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that the world football governing body will help rebuild Gaza’s football infrastructure, showing strong support for restoring sports and hope in the region.

Speaking after a high-level peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, attended by more than 20 world leaders, Infantino said FIFA would work closely with the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) to bring back sporting activities in Gaza and other affected areas.

“It’s very important for FIFA to be here — to help, to support, and to ensure that this peace process brings real hope,” Infantino stated.

As part of this initiative, FIFA plans to reconstruct damaged football facilities and launch a special development fund aimed at promoting youth football programs. The project will also include new “mini-pitches” and “FIFA Arenas” to provide children with safe places to play and dream again.

“Football has the power to unite people and inspire hope. Through this beautiful game, we can help children return to normal life and look toward a brighter future,” Infantino added.

The announcement comes as the Palestinian Football Association continues to engage with FIFA on various humanitarian and sports-related concerns. According to FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani, discussions remain ongoing at the organization’s legal department.

While some observers have called for quicker action, many see FIFA’s new commitment as a positive step toward recovery, peace, and unity through the universal language of football.
