Punjab Introduces Fitness Certificates for Motorcycles, Strengthens Transport Inspections
Following the requirement for private vehicles, motorcycles in Punjab will now also need to obtain a fitness certificate. After a technical inspection, motorcycles will be issued a one-year fitness certificate to ensure roadworthiness.
The Punjab Cabinet has approved amendments to the law, and the Transport Department is currently developing a plan for smooth implementation of this new policy.
Crackdown on Illegal LPG Usage in Public Transport
In parallel, special squads have intensified inspections of public transport vehicles using LPG across the province. Major bus terminals are being closely monitored, with strict action taken against violations.
Regional Transport Authority (RTA) officials are also targeting vehicles fitted with unauthorized LPG cylinders and cracking down on workshops producing illegal rickshaw bodies.
