Severe Flooding Hits ParkView City, Lahore as Ravi Water Levels Remain High
Lahore: Floodwaters have inundated several residential areas in Lahore, including ParkView City on Multan Road, leaving houses and infrastructure severely affected. Water levels reached five to six feet in many homes, forcing residents to relocate to relatives’ houses or their native towns.
“Almost half of ParkView City is underwater, affecting all six blocks, including Diamond, Crystal, Silver, Tulip (Extension), Overseas (Extension), and Platinum,” said resident Muhammad Abdullah. “The water is impossible to drain without assistance, and even under-construction houses have been submerged.”
Local real estate sources report that around 1,500 to 2,000 houses, mostly five-marla properties, are submerged under 3-4 feet of water, with similar damage in 10-marla houses and empty plots.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as concerns rise over potential water releases from India. An official warned that the Ravi River can handle up to 250,000 cusecs, but a release of 300,000 cusecs could cause massive flooding in Lahore.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza confirmed that the floodwater level is gradually receding, dropping from 220,000 cusecs on Thursday night to 151,000 cusecs at Shahdara by Friday evening. He added that the situation may worsen if heavy rainfall or excess water release occurs in the Ravi catchment areas.
Meanwhile, relief efforts are underway with 18 flood relief camps established across Lahore to provide shelter, food, and essential services to affected residents.
