Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan Face Rising Flood Emergency as Evacuations Continue
Punjab and Sindh are experiencing severe flood conditions as water levels in major rivers, including the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab, continue to rise. Thousands of villages have been submerged, forcing mass evacuations and affecting millions of people across the province.
At Panjnad Headworks, water discharge surged past 668,000 cusecs, leading to large-scale evacuations in Alipur and nearby areas. In Shujabad, a protective dyke collapsed for the second time, inundating riverbank communities.
Authorities reported over 400,000 cusecs at Guddu and Sukkur Barrages, which remain in “medium flood.” Meanwhile, more than 4.2 million people in Punjab have been affected, with thousands shifted to relief camps. Officials have also set up hundreds of medical and veterinary camps to assist both residents and livestock.

-
In Jalalpur Pirwala, another rescue boat overturned, leaving several missing.
-
In Muzaffargarh, thousands were evacuated as floodwaters spread into multiple villages.
Punjab Emergency Services confirmed that over 362,000 people have been rescued in recent days, with support from army helicopters, tents, and boats.
NDMA & Provincial Measures
NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik said Pakistan is facing the last monsoon spell, adding that floodwaters are expected to stabilize in the coming days. Still, authorities are monitoring embankments and dams closely, as Tarbela and Mangla have reached near full capacity.
Balochistan Preparations
Balochistan has also been hit by torrential rains, triggering flash floods in several districts. The PDMA has set up 16 flood control centers in Nasirabad division and deployed rescue teams with boats and heavy machinery. At Hub Dam, water levels are near maximum capacity, raising the possibility of spillways being opened.
Authorities have warned residents in low-lying areas to move to safer locations as floodwaters from Punjab rivers are expected to reach Balochistan in the coming days.
