Floods will keep 45 Lahore schools shut after holidays

Lahore Schools Reopen After Summer Vacations, 45 Remain Closed Due to Flood Impact

Lahore: The District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has announced the reopening of schools across the city from Monday (today) after the summer break. However, 45 schools will remain closed due to flood damage or because they are being used as relief camps.

Schools Affected by Flooding

According to an official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, the schools that will not reopen are located in severely flood-hit areas, including:

  • Shahdara

  • Saggian

  • Maraka

  • Chung

  • Manga

  • Bund Road

Out of the 45 institutions:

  • 33 are government schools

  • 3 are under the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF)

  • 1 is managed by the Punjab Education Initiative Management Authority (PEIMA-PSSP)

  • 8 are private schools

Government Schools That Will Stay Closed

Some of the key schools affected include:

  • Government Higher Secondary School Maraka Quarter

  • Government High School Shahdara Mor Farakh Abad

  • Government Higher Secondary School Niaz Baig

  • Government Central Model School No. 2 Rattigan Road

Private Schools Also Impacted

In Tehsil Raiwind, several private institutions will also remain shut, including:

  • British Grammar School

  • The Heaven School System

  • Dar-e-Arqam Manga Mandi

Relief Work Continues

Officials confirmed that many of these schools are currently being used as temporary flood relief shelters, and they will be reopened once conditions improve.
