Gas Pipeline Damaged in Lakki Marwat Blast; Security Operations Intensify

LAKKI MARWAT – A gas pipeline was damaged in a blast near the Jabbarkhel area of Lakki Marwat late Thursday night, according to police sources. Authorities say the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by unknown individuals, leading to a disruption in the local gas supply.

Following the incident, a large police force was deployed to the area to begin a search operation. No injuries were reported in the blast.

This marks the second such incident in the district in less than two weeks. On June 17, a similar attack damaged another gas pipeline in the Wanda Amir area, raising concerns about the safety of critical infrastructure in the region.


🚨 Mortar Shell Incident Injures 11, Including Children

In a separate incident on Friday, 11 people, including five children, were injured in a mortar shell explosion in the Kaichi Kamar area of Lakki Marwat. The projectile struck near a local mosque where villagers had gathered.

The injured were transported to the Government City Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. The wounded include:

Officials are investigating the origin of the mortar fire.


🔍 Search Operations Target Suspected Militants

Meanwhile, police and security forces have launched extensive search and strike operations in Darra Pezu town and areas along Tank Road in Lakki Marwat. The operations aim to enhance security ahead of Muharram and target suspected anti-state elements, said District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Jawad Ishaq.

DPO Ishaq confirmed that several suspects were arrested, and criminal hideouts in remote parts of the district were dismantled during the operation.


🛰️ Coordinated Strike Conducted in Karak District

In a related development, security forces in Karak district conducted a precision strike in the Sarki Lawaghar area of Takht Nusrati town, acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of individuals allegedly planning subversive activities.

The operation involved drone surveillance followed by the use of mortar shells to dismantle suspected hideouts. Authorities confirmed that the individuals fled towards remote mountainous regions before any arrests could be made.
