Pakistan Introduces AI-Powered Passport Printing Machines for Faster Service
Pakistan is stepping into a new era of passport printing with the introduction of advanced AI-powered machines capable of producing up to 300 passports per hour, announced Mustafa Jamal Kazi, Director General of Passports.
Six state-of-the-art machines were acquired in March 2025 and are now fully integrated with NADRA’s database, streamlining the passport issuance process and significantly reducing waiting times for applicants.
“This upgrade marks a major milestone in modernizing Pakistan’s passport system and improving service delivery,” said Kazi.
New Passport Features and Strict Measures on Deportees
In a move to enhance identity verification and align with international standards, Pakistan has also introduced the inclusion of the mother’s name on passports, boosting accuracy in personal identification.
Separately, the federal government has taken strict action against Pakistani nationals deported from abroad for illegal activities. Passports of individuals involved in offenses like public begging and undocumented migration—particularly in Middle Eastern countries—are now being canceled, with criminal charges registered to address the issue.
