Govt Prepares New Version of Pakistan Citizen Portal

Pakistan Citizen Portal Update for Android Submitted After Technical Glitches

The federal government has developed a new version of the Pakistan Citizen Portal app for Android users following recent technical issues that impacted app functionality. According to the Ministry of Information Technology, the updated version has been submitted to the Google Play Store and is currently awaiting approval.

The iOS version of the app, as well as the web-based portal, remain fully functional. The disruption has been limited to Android devices, where users have reported repeated app crashes, login difficulties, and issues with complaint submissions over the past few days.

One Android user shared their experience, saying, “The app keeps crashing again and again,” highlighting growing frustration among those relying on the platform to communicate with government departments.

Originally launched as a tool to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement, the Pakistan Citizen Portal has faced recent challenges. The Ministry of IT confirmed that the disruptions were due to an SSL certificate error and code-level bugs that affected app stability and secure connections.

“The new version addresses both issues and is ready for release pending Google’s approval,” a ministry spokesperson stated. Once approved, the updated app will be available for download via the Google Play Store and is expected to resolve current performance problems.

In the meantime, Android users are encouraged to use the web portal or the iOS version of the app, both of which are operating without any disruptions. Officials have termed the technical issue as temporary and assured users that full functionality will be restored shortly.

“The problem is isolated to Android and will be resolved as soon as the update is approved,” the ministry reiterated.
