Green’s career-best with bat and ball seals Australia’s 3-0 sweep

Australia Sweeps Scotland 3-0 in T20 Series, Despite McMullen’s Heroics

Australia secured a six-wicket victory over Scotland in the final T20 match at Edinburgh, completing a 3-0 series sweep. An all-round performance by Cameron Green, coupled with sharp fielding, saw Australia chase down Scotland’s total of 149 with 23 balls to spare.

Green first claimed career-best bowling figures of 3-35, restricting Scotland to 149 for 9, before anchoring Australia’s chase with an unbeaten 62 off 38 balls. Despite Brandon McMullen’s third half-century in four matches against Australia, Scotland’s total wasn’t enough to stop the visitors.

Currie Strikes Early for Scotland

Australia had a nervous start to their chase as Scotland’s Brad Currie dismissed both Australian openers. A brilliant diving catch by McMullen sent Jake Fraser-McGurk back for a duck, followed by Travis Head’s departure in the next over, leaving Australia at 19 for 2.

Green and Marsh Take Control

Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh steadied the innings with a 61-run partnership. Marsh hit some big shots before chopping on to a delivery from Jack Jarvis for 31. Tim David joined Green, and the two continued to attack the Scottish bowlers, hitting sixes in consecutive overs. Green reached his half-century off 33 balls and guided Australia home, while Aaron Hardie hit the winning boundary to seal the match.

McMullen Shines but Scotland Falls Short

Earlier, Scotland had a promising start with George Munsey and Ollie Hairs giving them early momentum. However, after Hairs was dismissed for 12, Munsey struggled until a six in the third over brought him back into form. Cameron Green then removed Munsey for 26, and from there, Scotland’s scoring rate slowed.

Brandon McMullen continued his strong form, hitting 56 off 32 balls, including two sixes. Despite his efforts, Scotland lost wickets at regular intervals. McMullen’s innings ended with a stunning catch by Travis Head, and Scotland could only add 11 runs in the final 20 balls.

Green’s bowling performance, highlighted by his first three-wicket haul in T20s, played a key role in limiting Scotland’s total, and Australia comfortably completed the chase.

With this victory, Australia wrapped up the series 3-0, showcasing their strength ahead of future contests.
