Ireland Women Announce Squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025

Cricket Ireland has revealed a 14-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Division 1 Qualifier, scheduled to start on 20 August 2025 in the Netherlands. Ireland will compete against Italy, Germany, and the hosts Netherlands in a double round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the Global Qualifier.

Selector’s View

National Women’s Selector Ciara O’Brien said:

“Qualifier campaigns are always challenging, with games coming thick and fast. While this squad is relatively young, they collectively have almost 650 T20I caps, bringing plenty of experience. Our recent hard-fought series win over Pakistan has the team in a strong position and motivated to take the first steps towards World Cup qualification.”

Pathway to the Global Qualifier

  • Bangladesh and Scotland are already in the Global Qualifier after playing in the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

  • Thailand and Nepal qualified through Asia, while the USA booked their spot from the Americas region.

  • Two teams each from Africa and Europe, and one from the East Asia-Pacific region, will complete the 10-team Global Qualifier lineup.

  • The Global Qualifier in Nepal will feature two groups of five, followed by a Super Six stage and a Final.

Ireland Women’s Squad

  • Gaby Lewis (Captain)

  • Ava Canning

  • Christina Coulter Reilly

  • Alana Dalzell

  • Laura Delany

  • Amy Hunter

  • Arlene Kelly

  • Jane Maguire

  • Lara McBride

  • Cara Murray

  • Leah Paul

  • Orla Prendergast (Vice-Captain)

  • Freya Sargent

  • Rebecca Stokell

The tournament promises high-intensity cricket as Ireland aim to secure a place in the Global Qualifier and take another step towards the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
