Islamabad and Lahore Suspend Metro Bus and Orange Line Services Amid Security Concerns

Islamabad and Lahore Suspend Metro Bus and Orange Line Services Amid Security Concerns
Β  October 10, 2025

The district administration has temporarily suspended Metro Bus operations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to potential protests in the twin cities. Authorities say this precautionary measure is aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing unrest.

Metro Bus officials confirmed that services on the Sadar to Pak Secretariat route are halted until further notice. The suspension follows intelligence reports warning that demonstrations could disrupt public transport and create security challenges. Staff and security teams remain on standby.

Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore Also Halted
The Punjab government has also suspended Orange Line Metro Train services in Lahore for the day as part of broader safety measures. Several stations were closed, and police were deployed at key locations to maintain law and order.

Commuters are advised to use alternative transport options until both services resume. Authorities emphasized that the suspension is temporary and operations will restart once the situation stabilizes.

This move reflects ongoing efforts by city administrations to prioritize public safety and prevent disruptions during times of potential unrest.
