Islamabad to Become Pakistan’s First Fully Cashless City
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is all set to transform Islamabad into Pakistan’s first fully cashless city, bringing a digital revolution to how residents pay for everyday services.
💳 From Taxes to Parking – All Payments to Go Digital
In a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Thursday, officials announced the launch of a comprehensive digital payment system. The initiative aims to eliminate cash handling in:
-
Property tax
-
Water bills
-
Land transfers
-
Parking fees
-
And other civic services
Instead of waiting in long queues, citizens will soon be able to make payments using QR codes, mobile apps, and online banking platforms — all with just a few taps.
🔐 Secure, Fast, and Transparent Transactions
According to Chairman Randhawa:
“Our mission is to make Islamabad a truly digital capital — smart, efficient, and citizen-focused. Going cashless will enhance transparency, reduce wait times, and improve public service delivery.”
To ensure smooth implementation, the CDA is collaborating with top financial institutions to build a secure, user-friendly online payment system.
🚀 Project to Launch in Phases
The first phase of the cashless transition will focus on high-traffic zones and frequently used services, ensuring maximum public benefit from day one. Once the system proves effective, it will gradually expand to cover the entire city.
💡 Why This Matters
Experts believe this move supports Pakistan’s national push for digital inclusion and could:
-
Curb corruption
-
Eliminate manual processing delays
-
Improve citizen experience
-
Strengthen financial transparency in public departments
📲 “Imagine paying your water bill or property tax without visiting any office — that’s the digital future we’re building,” said a senior CDA official.
