Jiho Park Confident Korea Can Win WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025

Taipei: Koreaโ€™s rising baseball star Jiho Park has emerged as one of the standout performers at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025, finishing the Opening Round with the tournamentโ€™s best batting average (.545) and the second-best on-base percentage (.667).

The 18-year-old left-handed outfielder, who played all six of Koreaโ€™s games in left field, credits his success to focus and discipline.
โ€œI try to concentrate on every single moment,โ€ Park said. โ€œI focus on one pitch at a time and do my best to get the most out of it.โ€

Eyes on the KBO Draft

Currently a senior at Gunsan Sangil High School, Park is preparing for the KBO Draft, which takes place just two days after the World Cup concludes.
โ€œMy dream is to become a professional baseball player in Korea,โ€ he shared. โ€œIf I donโ€™t get drafted this year, I will go to college and try again in four years.โ€

Koreaโ€™s Road to the Final

Park emphasized that the Korean U-18 team is determined to prove itself on the world stage.
โ€œKorea is here to win,โ€ he said. โ€œWe showed we can beat Chinese Taipei, and now weโ€™ll try to do the same against the USA. If we succeed, weโ€™ll have another chance to face Japan in the final.โ€

Respect for Team USA

Acknowledging the strength of their next opponent, Park praised Team USAโ€™s athleticism.
โ€œThey are tall, strong, and powerful hitters. Their pitchers have great command and always bring their best stuff. It will be a tough challenge.โ€

A Valuable Experience

For Park, the World Cup has been more than just competitionโ€”itโ€™s a learning opportunity.
โ€œThis is my first international tournament. Meeting players from around the world, many of whom play at higher levels, has been inspiring. This experience will help me grow as a player and focus on whatโ€™s important to become better.โ€

With his strong performance and confident mindset, Jiho Park is not only leading Koreaโ€™s World Cup campaign but also positioning himself as one of the most exciting prospects ahead of the KBO Draft.
